The Worldwide “We”

I consider myself a devoted husband and father. Nightly dinners. Bedtime stories. I even watch every episode of the Real Housewives series just to spend time with my wife, Heather. Come by my desk at work and you’ll see it wallpapered with family photos.

But I have a confession to make: there are other “women” in my marriage.

This isn’t a Sister Wives kind of relationship because the truth is I’ve never actually met these women. I don’t even know their real names. But whenever “we” are making important decisions, the “other women” are there to provide guidance and support that, frankly, have become indispensible to us.

These are the women of the on-line community. Whether they are sharing family vacation tips on blog posts, discussing the latest parenting dilemma on message boards or providing the pros and cons of the hottest selling cell phones on Facebook and Twitter, these women provide us with the everyday perspectives of real people.
